Professional Staff

Katharina Effinger, PhD

Katharina Effinger, PhD Katharina Effinger, Ph.D. has been the Administrator at Southwest Women’s Care since 2000 and demonstrates her dedication to the practice, driving to the Ahwatukee location from Peoria each day. She earned a B.A in Behavioral Sciences, M.S. in Management and a Ph.D. in Health Administration, all while working full time in a leadership role.

Katharina has been in the healthcare arena since 1959 when she embarked on a nursing career but ultimately left the hospital environment for 8 years, to travel around the world as a reservation supervisor for a Texas based airline. She returned to healthcare as an Admissions Director for a medical center in Illinois in 1970 and subsequently became involved in the financial world of healthcare as an Assistant Vice-President in Finance. She moved to Tucson, Arizona as Director of Patient Accounts at Tucson Medical Center and then moved to the Phoenix area to begin a career managing medical practices.

Currently, at Southwest Women’s Care, she manages this quality facility of almost 50 staff members with a desire to ensure quality patient care and support an extremely positive team who always put the patient’s needs first.

Aesthetics Staff

Nina Boyd, CMLT

"Our Aesthetics services allow us to help our patients feel good inside and out." Nina Boyd has worked along side the doctors since 2001 at Banner Desert Medical Center, and has been part of Southwest Women's Care since 2003.  Her passion has always been in the medical field, as well as nurturing people into a healthier lifestyle. Nina is certified in CoolGlide® CV Laser Hair Removal, Nd:YAG, Laser Genesis™ Skin Therapy, Cool Glide Excel® Vascular Laser, Titan® XL,LimeLight™, Pearl, chemical peels, and various clinical skin care product lines.

I understand that the best applications of cosmetic laser and dermatologic procedures take your individual skin condition and facial or body structure into consideration. I take pride in personally performing medical spa procedures, and ensure you will receive the highest quality results delivered with the utmost concern for safety and comfort.

Nina is married and has two wonderful children. She enjoys reading, music, and cooking. Most of all she enjoys spending her time with her family and friends.


Allison Reiner, LA, CMLT

Allison Renier, LA, CMLT Allison Reiner is a licensed aesthetician and the Aesthetics Coordinator for Southwest Women’s Care. She has a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a degree in Marketing from Northern Arizona University. Allison received her Aesthetics education form the National Aesthetics Institute in Scottsdale, AZ. Her work experience includes working side by side with Plastic Surgeons to create customized pre and post treatment plans, a Medical Spa Sales Director, and a Lead Aesthetician at a Hotel/Spa. Allison is an expert in skin care procedures and has over 75 post-graduate certifications in the field of aesthetics and is a Certified Medical Laser Technician. She conducts skin care seminars and trains Aestheticians to give back to her industry. She consults with patients regarding their skin care needs and suggests procedures that will enhance their appearance.
